Starting a rebellion usually requires you to spend time convincing people to join you in your crusade against oppression. But this rebellion is different. This is your rebellion against wage slavery. I’m talking about your rat race rebellion.
You’re not going to rally your co-workers to your cause. You’re not going to enlist the aid of allies either. In this rebellion, you are going to fight alone.
Because, the truth is, nobody else cares about your freedom.
There’s a saying that goes like this, “they want to see you do good, just not better than them”.
It’s 100% true. The other crabs in the crab bucket don’t want to see you preparing yourself for escape. If they figure out what you’re up to, they will instinctively do what they can to derail you and get you off course.
You will be questioned, ridiculed, and interrupted incessantly.
You don’t need these distractions. That’s why it’s best to keep this a stealthy revolution.
Secrecy and silence are your best friends during your struggle for freedom. Don’t say a word to anybody until you’re ready to leave. Even then, don’t tell them what you did to prepare yourself for your life of freedom and self-determination.
Don’t give the powers that be the slightest hint that you’re plotting a blue-collar escape.
Don’t shoot ‘til you see the whites of their eyes.
Think about it. Has there even been a successful revolution where the freedom fighters declared war before they were ready?
No, and neither should you.
You think this is too dramatic, too serious? Let me ask you this, how serious is it that the best years of your life are going to be spent making somebody else rich while at the end of it you are left with the crumbs?
Is that serious enough for you?
I hope so.
Now, here are the steps to starting your rat race revolution.
Rat Race Revolution Step 1
Realizing that you are indeed a slave to your employer is the first step. Admitting the truth is the only way to overcome it. Denial, rationalization, and excuse making are the arch enemies of truth.
See these habits for the shackles they are and rid yourself of them once and for all.
You are a wage slave. It doesn’t matter how much you make, what your pension or IRA will be, or even what your benefits are.
If you have to answer to anybody else, you are in a master-slave relationship.
And the truth is, it doesn’t have to be that way.
The belief that everybody has to answer to somebody is bullshit.
Do you think anybody who has achieved enough income to be completely self-sufficient would settle for a situation where they were subordinate to anybody?
No, they wouldn’t.
And neither should you.
After accepting that you are in a master-slave type of situation the next step is…
Believe That You Can Escape the Rat Race
There are a lot of people who hate their jobs. You’re probably one of them. And you probably know a lot more of them.
So why don’t they escape then?
Why haven’t you escaped yet?
I’ve talked about this in other posts. One of the biggest reasons is that most slaves don’t think they can escape. They see freedom as some illusionary place where they lay on a sunny beach and sip frozen daiquiris all day long as if they are living some kind of dream life.
Well, I can tell you with 100% certitude that it is a fantasy.
That is not what real freedom looks like. That’s what vacation looks like. And the reason that they associate freedom with vacation is that they don’t understand that working consistently is the only real way to escape.
They want freedom, but only if they don’t have to work for it. They would rather wait around and hope to hit the lottery.
No wonder they don’t believe escape is possible.
They don’t truly believe they can make their own way in life. If the participants in any revolution don’t truly believe that they can be free, how hard are they going to fight for it?
A big part of the revolutionary mindset is to understand that if you are going to escape you are going to have to work for it.
Nobody ever just granted somebody freedom. Freedom results from struggle.
Usually freedom is paid for in blood.
The currency that you will use to buy your freedom is effort.
Adopt this mindset or your rebellion will be short lived.
Devise Your Escape Plan
If you want your rat race rebellion to be successful, you need a solid plan of escape. Most people are completely unaware that there is money to be made on the internet.
As stated above, their plan is to win the lottery and go drink their lives away on some tropical paradise. Their plan is a bullshit fantasy.
If you want success you need a real actionable plan.
Starting a blog of your own is probably the best first step.
There is a bit of a learning curve, and you will need to sharpen your writing skills. But, in the end your own blog/website will give you the means to attract customers and serve as a platform from which to sell your products.
One of the keys to successful blogging is to produce content consistently. Therefore, your first rat race rebellion plan might be:
- Sign up for a blog with Escape.net
- Produce content consistently
- Create some of your own products
- Offer them to your visitors
- Scale up by advertising on related websites
A plan like this will get you moving in the right direction.
You will be on your way to escaping your rat race trap, but only if you follow the next step in starting a rat race rebellion.
Commit to Your Rat Race Rebellion
I say it repeatedly on this blog; if you want to achieve freedom you are going to have to work for it!
There is no easy way. There is no push button escape hatch that will teleport you from your rat trap to some fantasy vacation scene.
It simply doesn’t work like that.
It only works if YOU work.
Therefore, the next step in your rat race rebellion is to commit to action.
Notice, it doesn’t say commit to a plan, it says commit to action.
You want it? Then work for it.
Work consistently, learn from your mistakes, and keep going.
That’s the magic formula.
It’s the part of the escape plan that will keep most wannabe escapees right where they are. If you want to prove that you don’t belong where you are, then commit to working consistently until you don’t belong where you are.
It really is that simple.
And this hints at the final piece of the puzzle.
Don’t Quit until You’re Free
Just keep going.
Keep going and growing.
Climb out rung by rung. Keep putting one foot in front of the other and don’t stop to look back until you’re someplace you’d rather be.
Once you arrive you’ll find that you won’t ever want to look back. It will be like all those years of wage slavery never happened. As if it was somebody else instead of you.
Because, it was somebody else. Through the process of working your escape plan you will have transformed yourself. You will not resemble your former self even remotely.
Thus is the magic of staging a successful rat race rebellion.
Now take the first step. Freedom is closer than you think.
